Erikson’s psychosocial theory of development provides a framework for understanding personal, social, and emotional development including “the emergence of the self, the search for identity, the individual’s relationships with others, and the role of culture throughout life” (Woolfolk, 2013, p. 87). In your own words, explain how Erikson’s stages are interrelated and what essential process Erikson believed takes place during each stage.

    2. Helping children develop sensitivity to the feelings and rights of others is important for promoting a supportive and safe atmosphere in which to develop and learn. Referring to the information and theories provided in this week’s Learning Resources, describe three or more ways that adults might foster and support the emotional and moral development of children.

    3. Children’s experiences in learning situations and settings can have a significant impact on their self-concept and self-esteem. Differentiate the terms self-esteem and self-concept by describing each as it applies to you or someone you know. Then, using your own examples, discuss the potential benefits and pitfalls of attempts to develop children’s self-esteem.
